Shillong, Sep 25: Government classrooms in East Khasi Hills are getting a Silicon Valley upgrade.
The Meghalaya Programme for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER) has roped in US-based education giant CK-12 Foundation to transform learning in 31 Government and Government-Aided schools across the district.
The 31 schools — picked from both rural and urban pockets of EKH — will be the pilot battleground to prove how digital and blended learning can actually work in Meghalaya’s real classroom conditions, not just on paper.
And the groundwork has begun. In a focused drive, 47 teachers and 4 principals have been drilled in digital pedagogy and hands-on use of the CK-12 Learning Platform — from interactive textbooks and adaptive tools to practical classroom hacks that make science and math click.
For MPOWER, it’s more than gadgets. It’s about making adolescent learning engaging, resilient and future ready.
If the pilot clicks in EKH, it becomes the blueprint to scale across Meghalaya.
