Shillong, Sep 25: Mawlai missed a chance to go top, held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Nangkiew Irat in SPL 2026 at SSA Stadium.
It’s their third goalless draw in 32 games — all three involving Mawlai. After holding Langsning and Lajong, this slip against a bottom-half side will hurt more.
Mawlai stay 3rd with 12 points from 6 games. Lajong lead with 14 from 7, Langsning are 2nd with 13 from 6. Nangkiew move to 7th with 8 points from 8 games — the most played by any team.
Still unbeaten and having conceded just one goal all season, Mawlai’s worry is attack — only 8 scored, fewest in the Top 5.
Keeper Lambhamiki Lamare saved them twice against Yhoto Lohe in the first half. At the other end, Basuklang Bina hit the post, Robertson Khongriah fired wide, and Samlang Rympei’s effort was blocked — Mawlai’s final ball missing till the end.
The match began with a minute’s silence for former SSA Council Member Shandalang Talang.
Langsning can go top again tomorrow against bottom side Mylliem.
