New Delhi Sep 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the nation’s young talents to actively participate in developing advanced technology.
Opening the ‘SEMICON India 2026’ in the national capital, Modi focused the strategic advantage of the nation’s demographic dividend.
In his address, Modi welcomed the engineering talents saying, “Such a large talent pool is, in a way, nothing less than a gold mine for all of you.”
Modi urged the top industry leaders to take lead in the local research and development, ensuring mutual growth for both businesses and the nation’s youth.
He said, “Now our chips, coming out of India’s plants, have started reaching customers in the country and the world. The Government of India is taking every step needed for the success of your projects,” he said.
Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that the foundation of the semiconductor industry has been laid in India, and now the industry needs to grow further.
Talking to media on the sidelines of the ‘SEMICON India 2026’ here, he said ‘Semicon 2.0’ will build the semiconductor industry over six pillars.
He said, “In Semicon 1.0, we had lots of startups trying to see how we can design the chips. We had a goodsuccess. More than 105 startups participated in it, and about 20 of them got VC funding of about Rs 800 crore. That was just the beginning.”
