Shillong, Aug 21: Calm under fire. Brave on duty.
The Department of Urban Affairs on Friday felicitated two frontline stars of Meghalaya’s _Ka Bos Jong Ngi_ e-bus service for turning a moment of panic into a masterclass in composure.
Driver Fullmoonwell Lyngdoh and conductor Banmanbha Marwien were manning e-bus ML05 AH 5045 on its Air Force to IIM run on August 19, 5:51 pm, when chaos hit at Wahkdait, Nongmynsong.
A rally turned rowdy. Stones flew. The front windshield shattered. Passengers froze.
The crew didn’t.
With glass raining and danger closing in, Lyngdoh and Marwien held their nerve, secured the bus, and ensured every passenger got out unhurt.
For their razor-sharp presence of mind, the Department awarded the duo Rs 10,000 each, calling their act a shining example of safe, reliable and people-first public transport under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme.
