Shillong(Meghalaya), May 11 : The Somnath Swabhiman Parv was celebrated with devotion and spiritual enthusiasm on Sunday at the Omkareshwar Shiv Temple in R.R. Colony, Shillong and the Shiv Mandir, Babupara, Tura.
Commissioner & Secretary Dr. B.D.R. Tiwari, Central Puja Committee President Naba Bhattacharjee, and Director of Arts & Culture Iadashisha Majaw attended the programme at Shillong, which brought together devotees, local residents, community leaders, and temple committee members to honour the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Somnath Temple.
The event began with traditional prayers and chanting of Vedic mantras, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Devotees also joined a live telecast of the Prime Minister addressing the gathering from Somnath.
The spiritually uplifting and culturally enriching celebration strengthened unity, devotion, and pride among devotees and the local community. It was supported by the President and team of the Central Puja Committee, Meghalaya, with technical assistance from NIC Meghalaya, DDK Shillong and Tura, and the Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya.
