Shillong (Meghalaya), April 21: The 5th Meghalaya State League exploded Monday with an eight-goal thriller in Mairang, where Langsning FC edged Lawbah SC 5-3 in a match that saw both sides celebrate hat-tricks.
Nelson Rymbai was unstoppable for Langsning, striking in the 7th, 10th, and 88th minutes to complete his treble. Lawbah’s Adonydevy Riwan answered with three of his own in the 19th, 45’+1, and 89th, but goals from Dajiedlang Wanshnong (33′) and Chusrang Sangma (42′) kept Langsning ahead in the Group F clash.
Shillong hosted two sharp turnarounds. At SSA Stadium, Khimusniang SC recovered from Arkhangel Khongtyngkut’s 31st-minute opener for Mawshun SCC, levelling two minutes later through Civility Khongmalai (33′) before Primrose Lamat (65′) and Lamborki Lyngdoh (74′) completed a 3-1 win in Group A. At MFA Ground, Mawlum Tyrsad SCC stormed to a 3-0 lead in 22 minutes via Banshem Khongsit (5′), Marcellino Khongsit (11′), and Pyndapborlang Khongsit’s penalty (22′). Mulang SC Nongbah fought back with an own goal (44′) and Woldrik Susngi’s strike (46′), but Ebetstar Nongbet’s 88th-minute finish locked a 4-2 Group B result.
Group G saw a shake-up in Williamnagar as Janepih YSCA snapped Maram FC’s two-match winning run with a 3-0 victory. Edyson Iawphniaw (26′), Alphascius Sangriang (30′), and Wankuparlang Khardiengngan (65′) did the damage.
In Mawkyrwat, Mawten SC beat Mawlarshong SC 3-1 in Group H. Charles Lyngdoh’s 3rd-minute goal matched the season’s fastest, followed by Oversharp Iawphniaw (57′) and Debenroy Thongnibah (90’+4). Hopefullness Wanniang (82′) pulled one back for Mawlarshong.
Monday also brought the season’s first goalless draws. Amlarem SC and Laskein SCSC were locked 0-0 in Group C at Amlarem, while the Khliehriat derby between Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC and Thangskai Tiger SC ended 0-0 in Group D.
The league resumes Tuesday with Attong Matgrik FC vs Balmanduri FC in Group G at Williamnagar, 3 pm.
