Shillong (Meghalaya), March 29: The two-day Culinary Cascade 2026 festival wrapped up at Ward’s Lake, showcasing Meghalaya’s vibrant culinary traditions and cultural identity. The event, organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Meghalayan Age Limited, featured a range of activities, including culinary dialogues, innovation showcases, and interactive food installations.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of promoting sustainable tourism and local food economy. The festival coincided with SEETI Meghalaya, a six-day curated cultural immersion program, further enhancing the overall visitor experience.

The “Food Museum” was a highlight, presenting regional food practices through live demonstrations, digital displays, and curated storytelling. Visitors enjoyed dishes from Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo communities, alongside contemporary adaptations, street food, and locally produced beverages and artisanal goods.

The event also launched “Mission 1000,” a targeted health initiative aiming to eliminate malnutrition and stunting among children in Meghalaya. Local chefs, restaurants, and hotels will adopt villages to promote nutrient-rich, indigenous foods.
Culinary Cascade 2026 aimed to position Meghalaya as a hub of excellence, beauty, and opportunity, leveraging its unique cultural heritage and natural strengths.
