New Delhi, March 19: The BJP has unveiled its first list of 88 candidates for the Assam Assembly elections, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma contesting from his stronghold Jalukbari. The party’s big guns are out in full force, with Piyush Hazarika from Jagiroad, Chandramohan Patowary from Tihu, and Ajanta Neog from Golaghat joining the fray.
Pradyut Bordoloi, who recently joined the BJP, is set to take on Congress veterans in Dispur, while former Congress president Bhupen Bora has been fielded in Bihpuria, marking a fresh chapter in his political journey. Diplu Ranjan Sarmah will contest from New Guwahati, Vijay Kumar Gupta from Guwahati Central, Bhaskar Sharma from Margherita, and Prasanta Phukan from Dibrugarh.
The BJP has dropped Atul Bora in Dispur and Siddharth Bhattacharya from East Guwahati, signaling a major shake-up in the party’s strategy. With the elections set for April 9, the BJP is pulling out all stops to retain power in Assam. The stage is set for a thrilling showdown!
