Shillong ( Meghalaya), March 17 : The Meghalaya High Court has quashed an FIR registered against Bimlan Sohshang in a love affair case, citing lack of evidence under Sections 307 and 326 IPC. The court ruled that the case, which involved allegations of threats and physical assault, was a consensual relationship, and the parties had amicably settled the dispute.
Sohshang was accused of threatening and assaulting his lover, but the court found that the couple had a consensual relationship and had resolved their differences. The victim also stated in court that she did not want to pursue the case.
The High Court noted that no offence under Sections 307 and 326 IPC was made out and quashed the FIR, ordering Sohshang to pay ₹25,000 as compensation to the victim.
