Shillong (Meghalaya), March 11: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations (COMSO) has strongly condemned alleged Bangladeshi infiltration, linking it to the ongoing unrest in Garo Hills. Leaders at a public meeting accused the Meghalaya government of failing to protect indigenous communities, saying it’s being “dictated from somewhere else”.
JNC President Sambormi Lyngdoh warned that infiltration threatens local identity, land, and political rights, criticizing GHADC leadership for prioritizing power over people’s welfare. COMSO demanded immediate government action to stop infiltration and ensure peace in Garo Hills.
The meeting expressed solidarity with Garo Hills residents, amidst reports of violence and police firing that left two dead.
