Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 2: The Meghalaya government has welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27, stating it aligns with the state’s development priorities and long-term growth plans.
The budget allocates ₹9,631 crore to Meghalaya through tax devolution, providing the state with greater untied resources to support its developmental priorities.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma praised the budget, highlighting its focus on fiscal discipline, higher public investment, and balanced regional development. The budget includes allocations of ₹190 crore for Rural Local Bodies, ₹49 crore for Urban Local Bodies, ₹63 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund, and ₹16.20 crore under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund.
