Tura (Meghalaya), Nov 8: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma laid the foundation stone for the Additional Secretariat Complex here, a landmark project that promises to revolutionize governance in the Garo Hills region. The Rs 156 crore initiative is set to decentralize administrative services, bringing governance closer to the people and strengthening the region’s administrative infrastructure.
The new complex will be a game-changer for the people of Garo Hills, enabling faster delivery of government schemes, improving citizen access, and enhancing coordination among different departments of the Meghalaya Government. By providing a range of government services under one roof, the complex will reduce the need for residents to travel long distances, making governance more accessible and efficient.
The Chief Minister emphasized the project’s significance, stating that it will cater to all five districts of Garo Hills and provide offices for the Chief Minister and Cabinet, Chief Secretary, senior officials, and various government departments. With its completion expected by January 2027, the complex is poised to become a hub for government services, driving growth and development in the region.
This ambitious project is part of the government’s broader vision to create infrastructure that will last for the next 100 years, benefiting both urban and rural areas of Meghalaya. As the government works towards creating a more responsive and efficient administrative system, the people of Garo Hills can look forward to a brighter future
