Shillong (Meghalaya), July 24: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier has successfully foiled an infiltration attempt and apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals, including two men, two women, and a minor girl, near the international border in East Jaintia Hills today, July 24, 2025.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding suspicious movement in the jungle area along the border. BSF personnel detected movement during routine patrolling and swiftly cordoned off the area, leading to the apprehension of the individuals hiding in the bushes under the cover of darkness and dense vegetation.
The arrested individuals reportedly confessed to navigating through the hilly terrain and bypassing the broken border fence with the help of an agent to reach their destination in India. They were found in possession of forged Aadhaar and voter ID cards. One of the detainees had been residing in India for nearly a year, gaining proficiency in multiple Indian languages.
