
Shillong (Meghalaya) , Sep16: Eight new ministers were sworn in today at Raj Bhavan in here, marking a significant reshuffle in the Meghalaya cabinet. Governor Shri C.H. Vijayashankar administered the oath of office to the fresh inductees.
The newly sworn-in ministers include Sosthenes Sohtun, Brening A. Sangma, Timothy D. Shira, Wailadmiki Passah, Metbah Lyngdoh, Lahkmen Rymbui, Sanbor Shullai, and Methodius Dkhar. While the portfolios are yet to be officially announced, speculation suggests they might helm key departments such as Health, Power, Education, Tourism, and more.
The swearing-in ceremony comes after the previous ministers submitted their resignations, paving the way for a cabinet overhaul. The new lineup is expected to bring fresh perspectives and strengthen the government ahead of upcoming challenges. The portfolios are likely to be announced tomorrow, giving a clearer picture of the new cabinet’s structure and responsibilities.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, dignitaries, and family members of the newly inducted ministers. With the new cabinet lineup, the state is set to witness a significant change in its governance.
