Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 12: The 2nd edition of the Shillong Book Fair has taken a fascinating turn with the inclusion of stalls focusing on specialized subjects. Organized by the National Book Trust under the Ministry of Education, the fair has attracted niche buyers to stalls set up by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Making their debut in Shillong, these stalls offer a unique flavor to the fair, catering to scholars and enthusiasts seeking in-depth knowledge.
The IGNCA stall boasts around 50 titles, including Jewels of Northeast India, Aka’s: The Land & Its People, Basketry: Everyday Art of Northeast India and Rock Art: Heritage of Northeast India.
“We’ve had a satisfactory footfall,” said Ms Wafa Hasan, in charge of the IGNCA stall. “Our research-based books appeal to scholars and those passionate about exploring the region’s rich cultural heritage.”
The Sangeet Natak Akademi stall showcases an impressive collection of books on music, dance, theatre and other performing arts.
