Shillong(Meghalaya),Oct 11 : All India Trinamool Congress National Spokesperson Saket Gokhale hits back at MDA Government’s Minister James Sangma saying that it has become a ‘hallmark’ of the MDA Government to lie to the ‘Media as well as the people of Meghalaya’.
Countering Health Minister James Sangma’s claims about the MDA ministers being accessible to the press, Gokhale states that the blatant act of fabricating facts on part of the MDA Government has reached an embarrassing point.
In the letter, two questions were raised that have been repeatedly dismissed by the MDAGovernment.
In his letter he asks Sangma to explain how a Chinese Inhemeter Smart Meter was installed at his residence even though the Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, had claimed in July that these meters are yet to be approved by the Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) and the Government of India.
Further, TMC reminded that the National People’s Party (NPP) has not filed its mandatory election expenditure reports with the Election Commission of India. For the year 2018, expenditure reports of Assembly Elections in Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Mizoram are pending.
Lastly, expenditure report for the Lok Sabha Elections is also pending.
In response to Sangma’s ‘doing homework’ remark, TMC questioned the implications of a national party hiding election expenditures from the people as well as the Election Commission of India for over 4.5 years. It can be inevitably concluded that NPP is consciously violating the ethos of democracy.
Highlighting these two issues, TMC said that these are just two out of many issues which can be confidently pointed out, specifying the MDA Government’s attempt to fabricate facts and lies to the people of Meghalaya.
While concluding, TMC suggested an alternative, “We are ready to send you point-by-point questions about the issues of misgovernance and corruption in the MDA government. You can, at your leisure, issue a written response/clarification to the issues raised by us.
Since we’re now making it easy and convenient for you, we hope that your govt will not shy away from this offer especially if it has nothing to hide. Do let us know.”
While the MDA Government continues to strategise how to retain power rather than addressing the substandard educational infrastructure, rising unemployment, and infrastructural collapse in the state, Meghalaya TMC continues to be the voice of the people of Meghalaya.
