Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 21 : Three new Covid deaths and 11 fresh cases were reported in the state today.
According to a press release from the health department ,East Khasi Hills recorded five new cases, East Jaintia Hills three, Ri-Bhoi two and East Garo Hills one.
East Khasi Hills accounted for nine recoveries, Ri-Bhoi nine, East Garo Hills four, East Jaiñtia Hills four, Eastern West Khasi Hills four, West Garo Hills three, South Garo Hills two, North Garo Hills one and West Khasi Hills one.
There are now 343 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 145 active cases, West Garo Hills 54, West Jaiñtia Hills 36, Ri-Bhoi 26, South West Garo Hills 14, East Jaiñtia Hills 12, North Garo Hills 13, Eastern West Khasi Hills 11, West Khasi Hills 11, East Garo Hills nine, South West Khasi Hills seven and South Garo Hills five.
In all, Meghalaya has had 93,304 Covid-19 cases, of which 343 are active, 91,390 have recovered and 1,571 have succumbed to their infections .
Meanwhile ,tourist spots in the hill state are once again witnessing a huge footfall as the number of daily Covid-19 cases are on the decline and the state government having fully re-opened all the popular hotspots.
Hotels and restaurants had significant occupancy with relaxations of restrictions.
The bars and other liquor establishments have been allowed to stay open for longer in East Khasi Hills.
In a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner today, wine shops will be allowed to operate from 10am to 9pm Monday to Saturday. Licensed alcohol home delivery operations can run from 10am to 10pm Monday to Saturday. Bars and other IMFL on licence outlets can open from 1pm to 10pm daily. Bonded warehouses can operate from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. Canteens and outstills can open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.
