Shillong(Meghalaya ), Aug , 26 : The East Khasi Hills District Administration on Thursday , Aug 26 ordered closure of shops in Police Bazar including G.S. Road in the heart of capital city Shillong.
The sudden closure of shops and other business establishments by the District Administration without prior information has thrown the commercial activities out of gear.
The street vendors who came from the adjoining area of Shillong to sell their fruits and vegetables were disheartened, as they were unable to sell their goods. They lamented at the administration’s abrupt action, as this has brought them huge monetary loss.
The shop keepers said the administration should justify its action to suddenly close all the shops in and around Police Bazar. They also said the authorities should give prior information for closure of the commercial hub in the heart of the city, so that the perishable goods are not wasted.
