Guwahati( Assam), Dec 30 : The Bill pertaining to repeal of Provincialization of Madrassas has been passed today even as Congress and AIUDF staged a walkout in Assembly.
After passing of the billl ,all madrassas, being run under government stands converted into regular educational institute with effect from April 1, 2021.
Earlier , the Assam government, on Monday, tabled a bill to abolish all state-run madrassas and convert those into general schools.
Despite a united opposition raising objections against it, education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled The Assam Repealing Bill, 2020, on the first day of the three-day winter session of the assembly.
The bill proposes to abolish two existing acts – The Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialization) Act, 1995, and The Assam Madrassa Education (Provincialization of Services of Employees and Re-Organization of Madrassa Educational Institutions) Act, 2018.
