Guwahati (Assam) , July 1 : Assam saw the highest single day spike of 613 fresh cases of Covid -19 on Tuesday taking the total number of cases to 8407 .
Seeing the sudden surge of Covid cases in the capital city , the government has already imposed a total lockdown in the city for 14 days .
Health Minister , Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to all the residents of the city to be extra cautious to check the speard of the deadly virus .
Already 12 persons have died due to Covid in the state so far .
The minister tweeted on Tuesday night , “📌Alert ~ 572 new #COVID19+ cases detected today. Today, 380 cases were reported in Guwahati City alone, and need for caution can’t be overemphasized.”
