Guwahati ( Assam) , Feb 4 : The IMD’s five-day All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued on February 3 stated that thunderstorm “with lightning and hail at isolated places very likely over Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya and with lightning at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura” on February 4.
Likewise, thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places is “very likely” over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on February 5, the IMD stated.
According to IMD , the current weather condition to the Western Disturbance and its induced Cyclonic Circulation/Low moving east-northeastwards during next two days resulting in high moisture feeding from Bay of Bengal to East & adjoining North-East India.
Parts of Northeast India, especially the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya are set to experience heavy showers on Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a western disturbance and its induced low-pressure area, located near West Rajasthan and neighbourhood as of Thursday morning, are expected to move east-northeastwards during the next 24 hours.
Moreover, the same meteorological conditions will also dump precipitation over Northeast India in the form of widespread light to moderate rains and thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday, February 4-5..
IMD had already predicted that Assam along with the rest of the Northeast likely to witness isolated rainfall for the next two days. The Central part of Assam and Meghalaya are at risk of localised inundation due to rain totals in excess of 50 mm on Friday for 24 hours. The state of Assam might also witness hailstorms, and lightning at isolated places till Feb 4.
