Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Aug 27: The victory flame was lit from eternal flame of the national war memorial, signifying the valour and bravery of the soldiers. Since then, the victory flame is travelling across the length and breadth of India.
On its journey in seven sisters, the flame travelled 250 km from Umroi Mil station of Meghalaya to Kokrajhar, heart town of Bodoland Territorial Council on Friday.
The flame witnessed an imposing reception ceremony organised at Government HS & no school playground in Kokrajhar.
Hundreds of attendees, including civilian dignitaries, 1971 war veterans, serving soldiers of Indian Army, SSB & CRPF were present.
Brig Kulvir Singh,SM,Cdr Agia Bde recieved the victory flame escorted by bikers in Kokrajhar and witnessed ceremonial guard of honor, scintillating pipe band display, felicitation of 1971 war heroes which marked the inception of four days event. The enthralling event echoed a sense of pride among local populace.
During the event,1971 war veterans was offered warm felicitation and honoured by Indian army and district administration authorities.
Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka who graced the occasion as chief guest, said that the Kokrajhar district administration has a lucky enough to receive the victory flame in Kokrajhar as Government of India and state government have been celebrating this 2021 as Swarnim Vijay Varsha across the country.
She said that the nation is carrying the Vijay Varsha to mark the 50 year glorious year in the history of the country.
