Guwahati ( Assam), Oct 6 : In a new twist , Dispur police on Wednesday re-arrested former Femina Miss India finalist , Rajkanya Baruah. The police re-arrested Rajkanya from a private hospital where she was admitted following last Friday’s accident that left eight labourers injured in the Rukminigaon area of Guwahati.
Rajkanya Baruah, the former Femina Miss India finalist was granted bail in less than 24 hours after she ran over roadside PWD workers, while driving in a “druken ” state in the Rukmininagar area here past midnight last Saturday.
She had injured as many as eight workers of the PWD (Public Works Department) .Eight of the workers sustained serious injuries, while one of them had both his legs amputated at Guwahati Medical College hospital , here.
Police have booked her under Section 308 of IPC (for attempt to commit culpable homicide)which could lead to a jail term extending up to seven years.
A team of doctors today conducted a medical test of Rajkanya after which the doctors said that she is not undergoing any serious health issues. “There was no serious or acute condition that warranted her to admit to a hospital. Various clinical scores APACHE & RTS were applied to the clinical and biochemical reports which does not fit to keep her into ICU,” the report said .
According to police ,the doctors of the private hospital where she was admitted would now be questioned in regard to her admission in the ICU of the hospital when the medical board has found her fit to appear for police investigation.
After Chief Minister , Dr, Himanta Biswa Sarma’s intervention into the case , she was asked to appear before the police on Tuesday but she did not turn up stating that she was admitted to ICU in a private hospital . The family members had asked for two weeks’ time to appear before the investigating officer as she was admitted to a private hospital.
According to sources , this was not the first incident where the former Miss India finalist was involved . The model was also earlier involved in a few drunken brawls .
Meanwhile , police have taken action against two police personnel for letting the model off the hook. The two Sub-Inspectors are Sahir Ali and Abha Rani Gogoi of Guwahati’s Dispur Police Station .
