Kokrajhar (Assam), Sep 20: Various organizations and individuals including the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Pramod Boro, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) president Dipen Boro, Kokrajjhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania have expressed their concern over the killings of two persons in an alleged fake encounter in Kokrajhar on Saturday last and demanded proper investigation into the incident.
In an interview an interview with South Asia Views in Kokrajhar today, BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro expressed his concern over the incident and said nobody will tolerate fake encounters and loss of innocent lives and added that there will be an investigation into the killing of two youths in Kokrajhar.
He said he had taken up the matter with the chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who also has expressed concern over the incident .
He has urged to the newly floated ULB militant outfit members to shun violence and arms struggle.
He reiterated that in today’s society any form of violence and arms struggle wont be tolerated as people of BTR want peace and harmony .
” Our government is very much concerned over the incident”, Boro said.
He also appealed to all sections of society to maintain peace and harmony .
MP Naba Kumar Sarania demanded a proper investigation into the incident. He said no innocent civilian in BTR or in Assam should lose their lives. He said human rights bodies should take up the issue and pressurize the government for free and fair investigation.
He appealed to all organisations and concerned people to file complaint with police regarding the incident
Sarania also opined that investigations into the encounter should be carried out thoroughly to find out if it was a fake encounter . He added that general public don’t want any violence and urged the citizens to stand united against such unwanted incidents .
The Bodo Sahitya Sabha and All Bodo Students Union too, has demanded a high level inquiry into the incident.
ABSU president Dipen Boro said that the encounter took the life of two persons which is unfortunate and unwanted for the society.
He has demanded a proper independently investigation into the alleged encounter in Kokrajhar district.
Meanwhile a 12 hours total BTR bandh was called as a mark of protest against the killing, which saw total shutdown at various parts of the district like Kokrajhar town, Serfanguri, Patgaon with shops, market and other business establishments remaining closed.
The bandh was also total in Chirang and Udalguri districts .
Meanwhile, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded a CBI investigation to find out the truth behind the encounter where two Bodo youths were killed .
Speaking to reporters in Kokrajhar, APCC senior spokesman and in-charge of BTC Congress coordination committee, Gorjon Mushahary accused the BJP led state government for creating chaos by misrule in Bodoland Territorial Region districts.
He said that Congress demands a CBI investigation into the encounter at Ultapani forest area and punishment of the involved culprits as two innocent Bodo youths were killed under the pertext of militants .
” The killing of two Bodo youths is a deep conspiracy of police and they killed in them a fake encounter inside a deep jungle forest area of Ultapani forest along the Indo-Bhutan border area in Kokrajhar district”, Mushahary said.
Meanwhile, social activist and former president of Bodo Women Justice Forum (BWJF) Anjali Daimary alleged that the two youths were killed in a fake encounter at Lungsung area inside the Ultapani forest area.
She expressed serious concern over the incident and added that it was perpetrated by police under pertext of checking militant outfits in the state .
Acoording to the family members ,both the youths were arrested by police on Friday after a road mishap at Aflagaon village under Serfanguri police station and were then killed in a fake encounter.
They added that both the youths, Jwngsar Mushahary and Janak Kumar Brahma were former members of NDFB-S and were innocent and from a very poor economic background.
She said that BWJF demands a judicial inquiry into the incident and strong punishment for those involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, a candle lighting programme was organised in front of Kokrajhar Law College complex this evening in protest against the encounter.
