Kokrajhar (Assam),Mar 27 : With conflicting reports pouring in from across the world and the country with no proved medicinal cure for the CODID -19 , the people of Kokrajhar have finally surrendered to the supreme power.
The citizens from Purana Titaguri Thuribari village near Bodoland University here offered special Puja to Bwrai Bathow( Lord Shiva ) at the village road as per Bathow traditions on Thursday .
The village Society from Purana Titaguri Thuribari village under Kokrajhar police station had decided to offer Puja and worship to Lord Bwrai Bathow to save mankind from this deadly virus .
Hundreds of villagers came out along with Douri(priest) on the village main road and offered Puja to the almighty Bwrai Bathow to save the people of the village and the world from the deadly Coronavirus .
Villagers offered their prayers with deep reverence and they felt only Lord Shiva (Bwrai Bathow), the creator and the destroyer can now save mankind from the the state , country and world from this deadly virus .
“We offered our deep prayers and worship to Lord Bwrai Bathow relieve us and the world from Coronavirus.We are now left with no option instead surrendering to the Bwrai Bathow at this crucial hour.We are sure ,Bwrai Bathow will save us from Coronavirus “,said L Goyary,a resident of Purana Titaguri Thuribari village.
Another villager said that we are really in a confused state of mind . Though we are following all the standard guidelines but till date there is no cure . Our state of mind has been disturbed with the rumours and alarming rate of increase of the virus . When you have nothing within your reach only Bwrai Bathow can bail you out of this situation , he said .
It is not only prayers but the villagers also seems to be more knowledge about the ‘dos’ and the ‘donts’ about the spread of this deadly virus . They on their initiatives have locked the village as a preventive measures to get rid COVID 19 virus . If they at all allow some one he or she has to sanitize himself before entering the village .
As a village elder put it ‘it is a very crucial time and we just cant afford to sit down as it concerns life and health of the seventy five families residing in the village .’
Though majority of the villagers lack scientific knowledge but they appeared to be more conscious and appealed to all sections of the society to maintain social distance and maintain a healthy life.
“We have initiated village lockdown as part of our safety measures for citizens in the wake of Coronavirus in the region.We must follow the directions of nationwide lock down of stay at home”,said Kansai Brahma,a villager in Batabari.
Though across the country and the state , the government is facing an uphill task in controlling the people from mass gathering and social distancing this tiny hamlet of Purana Titaguri Thuribari has shown the country what needs to be done at this hour of crisis .
