Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Nov 17: Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief executive member Pramod Boro has demanded CBI investigation into the fratricidal killings in Bodoland region since 2008-2013 which had claimed lives of several people in Bodo belts and sought punishment of the involved culprits.

A two-day autumn session of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly began from Wednesday at BTC Legislative Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr here .

The session was chaired by Katiram Boro, speaker of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly .
In the assembly session, Opposition BPF MCLAs participated for the first time today under the leadership of Opposition leader Derhasat Basumatary after UPPL-BJP-GSP alliance government was formed in Dec12 last .

BPF announced that MCLA, Derhasat Basumatary representing Salakati would be the leader of the Opposition in the BTC legislative assembly.

The Opposition BPF MCLAs have been boycotting the BTC Legislative Assembly for the last four sessions saying that the floor test held on Dec 24 last year was not conducted properly and accordingly filed a complaint in the Guwahati High Court seeking proper conduct of floor test.

The 40 member house of BTC legislative assembly has 13 UPPL members , 14 BJP members, 11 BPF members and 1 member representing  GSP .

BTR CEM Pramod Boro has extended warm welcome to the opposition MCLAs who for the first time attended the BTC assembly and expressed his hope that the house would witness healthy discussions .

During the question hour, the house saw war of words between ruling and Opposition members on the alleged corruption held during the previous BPF ruled BTC administration.

In a reply to a question of Opposition MCLA Munmun Brahma,BTR CEM Pramod Boro said that there was huge financial anomalies during the previous tenure which included Rs. 543 crores in CD(chief discretionary fund ) Rs.800 crores in PWD department and Rs.119 crores in Education department during the previous BPF ruled BTC administration.

He said that the region must have secured environment and an arms free society.

He also sought CBI investigations in the Bodoland region into the fratricidal killings since 2008 and punishment of the involved culprits.

The fratricidal killings claimed lives of several people including journalists.

During the session, BTC executive member for Forest department, Ranjit Basumatary also sought CID investigation into into the corruption in the forest department during 2012-13 financial year.

He said that the Bodoland region is now getting healthy integration among the society since signing of the BTR accord (Bodoland Territorial Region) on Jan 27, 2020 as all the factions of NDFB were signatories of the peace accord.

“Today was the first day of the autumn session of BTC legislative assembly which ended on a pleasant note . It is my ardent appeal to all the members to be dutiful & actively participate in the healthy discussions on various topics to make the session more successful”, Boro added.

Opposition leader Derhasat Basumatary said that people of Bodoland belt want peace and harmony among the society for healthy environment .

He also assured cooperation from the Opposition in all welfare and development activities in the BTC districts.
