Kokrajhar(Assam),Aug 22: Three dacoits were killed at an encounter with police at Bhotgaon Chengmari near Allahabad bank in Kokrajhar on early Sunday morning while attempting to loot the Allahabad bank, here .
Speaking the reporters here today additional DGP and in-charge IGP of BTC, Dr L R Bishnoi and SP Kokrajhar Prateek Thube said that a gang of six dacoits tried to loot the Bhotgaon Allahabad bank late last night and in an encounter with police three of them were gunned down while other three managed to flee from the spot.
Despite checking by police near the bank and its adjoining areas they somehow managed to make it near the gate of the bank .
The encounter was lasted for 30 minutes and later three bodies of the dacoits were found lying on the road in Bhotgaon Chengmari .
They were identified as Sirajdullah Sheik of South Salmara and Aminul Sheik and Monirul Sheik from of Goalpara.
Police recovered two numbers of 7.65 pistols, two magazines, eight live ammunition ,six empty cartridges, three mobile handset, Oxygen cylinder, LPG cylinder, iron rod cuter, dao, rubber pipe,a bike and an autorickshaw.
Dr Bishnoi said that out six miscreants, three managed to flee from the spot.
According to them , the police had specific inputs that the miscreants would try to loot the Bhotgaon Allahabad bank at night.
The incident took place at around 2.30 am and three bullet ridden bodies were rushed to the RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar where doctors declared them brought dead.
SP Kokrajhar Prateek Thube said the dacoits first fired on police and later they retaliated which led to the death of three dacoits while the other three managed to flee from the spot under the cover of darkness .
Police are now trying to find out the master mind behind the incident.
