Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Jan 5: The United Bodo Peoples’s Organisation(UBPO) leaders including its president Mihiniswar Basumatary recalled contributions and dedication of former ABSU president Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and offered floral tributes at his Thulungapuri Samadhi Dotma in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
A team of UBPO members went to Thulungapuri Samadhi Dotma of Bodofa in the morning from Guwahati and paid homage to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma,who dedicated his whole life towards the upliftment and development of the Bodo community.
Basumatary was accompanied by general secretary Anil Basumatary and reached the Thulungapuri Samadhi where they offered floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
Later,the UBPO leaders also paid floral tribute to Sahitya Akademi Award winner and noted poet Brajendra Kumar Brahma at his memorial at Chalani Batabari.
Basumatary said that the Bodo society has reached at this status following the contributions of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma who had dedicated his whole life towards the upliftment and development of the down trodden communities including the Bodo community.
He said that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma’s dedication and contribution are in creating social uplift and development as well integration building among the down trodden communities including Bodo society will always be remembered .
He said that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma always dreamt a greater Bodo society with its language and culture in the world and accordingly he led the Bodoland movement in a democratic manner while pressuring the government solving the issues and demands of the Bodos.
“We should recall the contributions of Bodofa and inculcate his ideology and philosophy among the society”,he added.
He also informed that an interim council of the Bodo Kochary Welfare Autonomous Council(BKWAC) would be created within January as state government has cleared the bill of its creation on Dec 30 last .
He informed that the council would consist of 40 member’s including four nominated members.
He has extended his sincere thanks to the state government,BJP leaders in the Assam state for clearing the bill for BKWAC council formation in the state for the Bodos who are residing out of BTR.
He has expressed his confidence that Bodo peoples living outside of BTR are getting healthy opportunities of welfare and developmental aspects in days to come.
