Kokrajhar (Assam),Nov 30: Police in Kokrajhar have apprehended six persons for their involvement with attacked on UPPL party member and supporters at Talitbari that left 12 persons severely injured ahead the BTC council elections .
According to sources , at-least 12 UPPL party supporters received serious injuries due to attack by suspected BPF supporters late last evening under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district .
The incident took place at Talitbari near Simbargaon under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district that left 12 UPPL party members seriously injured .
The injured were immediately rushed the local hospital and RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar. 2 of the injured are stated to be in a critical condition.
Police in Kokrajhar have apprehended 6 persons for involvement with the incident.
“Police have started their investigations into incident”, said Rakesh Roushan,SP Kokrajhar.
UPPL candidate for Debargaon constituency Buddadev Mushahary has strongly condemned the incident and termed as unfortunate in run up to the BTC council elections.
He has alleged that BPF fearing defeat in the council elections are trying to capture the support in Debargaon constituency and accordingly, attacked UPPL party members and supporters on Sunday evening .
He said the the council elections must be conducted in free and fair in the region.
Mushahary said that he was hopeful to win from the constituency and UPPL would win majority of the seats in the four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Council.
He said that this time around ,he will defeat BPF president Hagrama Mohilary in Debargaon with massive support of the citizens in Kokrajhar district.
Meanwhile,BPF has denied their party member’s involvement with the incident under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district on Sunday evening.
“BPF strongly condemns the incident and urges people to maintain peace and integrity among the society”, a senior BPF party leader said.
