Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Jan 28: The one-day special session of the Bodo Territorial Council Legislative Assembly was held at BTCLA House Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar today with Katiram Boro,speaker of BTCLA in the chair.
CEM Pramod Boro proposed the name of Abhiram Mahanayak as the deputy speaker of the UPPL-BJP-GSP combine coalition government in the house and accordingly Mahanayak was elected as deputy speaker.
Mahayak was elected from Thuribari constituency in Chirang on BJP party ticket in the recently held BTC elections.
Todays session discussed on the welfare and development activities of the BTC government.
The opposition party members were absent today for the second consecutive session.
CEM Boro congratulated the newly elected deputy speaker of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly .
He said that the BTCLA session discussed on the enhancement of remuneration of BTC MCLAs up to one crore from existing 50 lakh.The discussion will be tabled in the next Executive Council meeting of the BTC.
He informed that an orientation programme for the BTC MCLAs would also be conducted soon .
Boro also said that no decision for eviction in the council administration and the BTC administration is trying to find out the source of rumours about the so – called eviction.
Boro while expressing unhappiness over the Opposition’s absence in the assembly session, said that the opposition members are are spending more time picnics rather than attending the session which he termed as ‘ unhealthy ‘ trend for democracy.
He also alleged that the opposition has no deep welfare agenda for the development of the citizens.
He said that opposition parties must play strong constructive role, but unfortunately the BPF members are not attending the BTC assembly session.
He said that there is a need for participation of opposition members in the assembly session.
” In a democratic system, the government(ruling) and opposition are part of the parliamentary system. Opposition party members must participate in the assembly session”, Boro added.
