Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Mar 16: The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has announced names of eight more candidate’s names for the upcoming Assam assembly elections on Tuesday.
UPPL general secretary Maoti Brahma Hazoary announced the names of eight more candidates at a Press Conference held at UPPL party office here today . The party has so far announced the candidates from 11 constituiences .
Those whose names figure in todays list are : Kokrajhar East LAC… Lawrence Islary;Kokrajhar West LAC… Manaranjan Brahma;Gossaigaon LAC…Somnath Narzary; Sidli LAC…Jayanta Basumatary; Bijni LAC…Phanin Boro;Chapaguri LAC…UG Brahma ; Barama LAC…Bhupen Boro and Tamulpur LAC…Leho Ram Boro
UPPL secretary and former ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary said that UPPL is confident of winning majority of the seats in the upcoming assembly elections where party candidates are contesting across the four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
Islary,who is contesting in Kokrajhar East LAC on UPPL ticket, said that this time UPPL is fielding candidates in 11 constituencies across the region.
He is contesting from Kokrajhar East constituency against the BPF leader and minister Pramila Rani Brahma who is regarded as a senior most woman leader among the Bodo community.
Islary said that people from all sections want parivartan and development in the region and are fully extending support to the UPPL candidates.
” I am sure of my victory from the Kokrajhar East constituency in the upcoming assembly elections”, Islary said.
Meanwhile,BPF president and former CEM Hagrama announced the names of 8 more candidates today .
In the list,two siiting MLAs , Barama( Maneswar Brahma) and Chapaguri(Thaneswar Basumatary) names have been dropped . The names of the candidates whose names figure are Kokrajhar East … Pramila Rani Brahma , Kokrajhar West …Rabiram Narzary,Gossaigaon …Majendra Narzary , Sidli …Chandan Brahma,Bijni …Kamal Singh ,Narzary, Barama … Prabin Boro ,Chapaguri …Hitesh Basumatary and Tamalpur ….Ramdas Basumatary .
Mohilary said that his party is contesting in all the 12 constituencies during the assembly elections across the BTR districts.
He added that Congress led Mahajoth would form the government in the state by winning majority of the seats in the state.
Mohilary said that the BJP led alliance would face defeat in the state as voters are in favour of Mahajoth during the assembly elections.
