Guwahati ( Assam) , Mar 10 : The BJP today released a list of three candidates for Assam Assembly elections.
According to the list , Milan Das would contest from Hailakandi constituency, Paramananda Rajbanshi from Sipajhar and Ramakrishna Ghosh will be contesting from Hojai.
The sitting Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev was not named in the first list of the BJP candidates and in his place party spokesperson Ramkrishna Ghosh was declared as the candidate for the Hojai constituency.
Meanwhile ,Shiladitya resigned from the primary membership of the party and announced that he would contest the fortcoming elections as an independent candidate from Hojai.
Addressing media persons Dev said that he would continue to fight the battle on his own.
Dev in social media posts said , “Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ase Tobe Ekla Cholo Re (If no one responds to your call, then go your own way alone),” after he was denied the ticket . He also took to Facebook to inform that he has been literally thrown out from the party.
Voting for 47 of Assam’s 126 Assembly constituencies will be conducted in the first phase on March 27.
