Kokrajhar ( Assam),Mar 29 : Massive campaigning by different political parties including United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) have reached the peak across the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Council for the forthcoming assembly elections to be held on April 1st &6th during the second and third phase of the Assam assembly elections .
In Kokrajhar East constituency (No.30 ST), a total five candidates are in fray . However , the real fight is likely to be triangular. The real contest is expected between three candidates Lawrence Islary (UPPL), Pramila Rani Brahma (BPF) and Manaj Kumar Brahma (IND).
On Sunday, Independent candidate Manaj Kumar Brahma inaugurated election sub-committee office at Ghoshkata and Chandrapara in Kokrajhar.
Brahma slammed the BPF for failing to work for the welfare and development of the common masses in the council region.
He alleged that sitting MLA and BPF candidate for Kokrajhar East constituency Pramila Rani Brahma has never thought about the welfare and development of the common masses despite representing the prestigious Kokrajhar East constituency for 30 years since 1991.
Brahma was confident that this time around he would emerge victorious from the Kokrajhar East constituency as people cutting across the communities are coming forward to extend support in his candidature .
He said that he was one of the prominent members behind the formation of BPF in 2005 and extended support to BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary to be chief executive member of the Bodoland Territorial Council.
However , when he applied for a ticket from BPF for contesting the assembly elections the party denied him a ticket.
” I am hopeful that I am winning from the Kokrajhar East constituency through the massive support from all sections of the communities”, Brahma added.
Meanwhile, BPF candidate and Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma inaugurated election sub-committee office at Chandrapara Bazar amidst the presence of party supporters on Sunday .
She also addressed election campaign meetings at Diajijiri, Kokrajhar town on Sunday.
She declared that all the BPF candidates contesting from the 12 constituencies across your BTC districts would emerge victorious .
She was confident that this time Congress led Mahajoth is forming the government in the state by winning majority of seats in the state.
On the other hand,UPPL candidate , Lawrence Islary addressed an election meetings held at Ghoshkata, Amguri,Hekaipara and Simbargaon.
Over 100 people from different parties and organisations joined the UPPL at Ghoshkata in the presence of UPPL candidate Lawrence Islary.
He said that he is contesting the upcoming assembly election on UPPL ticket and people from cutting across the communities are supporting his candidature.
He alleged that BPF indulged massive corruption and anomalies during their past 17 years of rule in the BTC administration.
” People want parivartan and development among the society in the region and accordingly citizens are coming forward to extend their support to the UPPL and it’s alliance partners in the assembly elections”, Islary added.
