Guwahati (Assam), Mar 6 : The financial assistance under the state govts ,‘Arundhati’ scheme has been increased to Rs.40 thousand said finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in his budget speech at the Assam Legislative Assembly today.
The newly married brides from the state were getting Rs. 30 thousand under the flagship scheme of the state government. The govt announced today that the newlyweds would get Rs. 40 thousand in lieu of 1 tola gold.
“The financial assistance under ‘Arundhati’ will be enhanced to Rs. 40,000. A sum of Rs.150 Crore has been allocated for this scheme in Budget 2020-21,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The benefit under this scheme would be given to all brides coming from families which have less than Rs. 5 Lakh annual income and who go for formal registration of marriages under the Special Marriages Act, 1954.
The applications for ‘Arundhati’ Gold Scheme and the registration of marriage under Special Marriages Act, 1954 can be submitted can be submitted on the same day of the marriage through a web based application.
