A memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister,Chief Minister of Assam seeking early conduct of BTC the elections.

The BPF has expressed it’s concern over the delay in the BTC elections and alleged that it was a politically conspiracy of the state government.

BPF is demanding early conduct of BTC elections by maintaining COVID-19 protocol to pave the way for healthy democracy in the region.

The BTC region Akhil Hindi Bhashi Vikash Parishad demanded saving of democratic rights of the constitution by holding council elections, submitted a memorandum to the chief minister and state election commissioner through the Kokrajhar deputy commissioner and demanded early conduct of BTC council elections within the month of October.

The Vikash Parishad delegation was led by it’s general secretary Dilip Setia and they staged a protest in front of DCs office. The Parishad urged the state government and election commission to take initiatives for conducting the council elections soon .

Setia said that common people in the BTC region are facing severe hardships due to ongoing Governor’s Rule since April 27 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic as well as model code of conduct imposed in BTC council.

He said that people are deprived of their due rights and welfare during the last six months due to imposition of model code of conduct .
They questioned the government and election commission that if Bihar assembly elections can be declared by election commission, than why not BTC election in the state of Assam.

“Citizens living in the BTAD region are being totally deprived of democratic voting rights for not holding council elections. Citizens must get voting rights through conduct of council elections”, Setia said .

President of AAMSU Rejaul Karim Sarkar has also sought early conduct of BTC elections in the region to save the democratic spirit. He urged the state government and election commission to take steps for council election without any further delay.
