Kokrajhar (Assam),May 22: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited Srirampur and Sagolia inter -state border check gates with West Bengal to review COVID-19 management in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts.
Dr Sarma was accompanied by Health minister Keshab Mahanta, BTC chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro .
Soon after arriving at Srirampur,Dr Sarma inspected Covid scanning centers set up at Srirampur inter -state border check gate where passengers coming from neighbouring states are tested for Covid -19 .
CM Sarma attended a review meeting on COVID-19 management with health officials, district administration which was organised by ministry of Health and Family Welfare department.
Later,he left for Sagolia inter- state border check gate in Dhubri district where he held a review meeting with district administration and health authorities.
After the meeting, Dr, Sarma told the media persons that he has reviewed all Covid management initiated by health authorities and district administration to check the spread of COVID-19 across the district.
He urged upon the district administration and health authorities to lay more stress in conducting RTPCR besides RAT tests.
Dr Sarma also informed that there would be no lockdown across the state but strict measures will be initiated to control the spread of COVID-19 .
He said that the state government will continue to ban inter- district movement till June 5 next .
He said that the curfew in rural areas will be imposed from 2 pm instead of 5 pm every day and urban areas would be under curfew from 12 noon onwards .
He said that state has sufficient availability of Oxygen and apart from catering to the needs of the patients in the state , oxygen is also being sent to other neighbouring North Eastern states for emergency purposes .
He said that each district administration will have an Oxygen plant within a short span of time and already one is operational at Chirang district .
“Necessary checks on passenger buses have been initiated at the Srirampur inter- state border for Covid test”, Dr Sarma said.
Till date , 23 persons have succumbed to COVID-19 and over 480 persons have been detected positive in Kokrajhar district.
