Kokrajhar(Assam) ,Aug 15: Despite, COVID-19 pandemic, the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Area District have joined hands in the celebration of 74th Independence Day amidst maintaining of social distancing at district headquarters and sub-divisional headquarters on Saturday.
The celebration was organized under strict security vigil and everyone attending checked thoroughly and sanitized before entry to the celebration venue in order to combat the Covid -19 pandemic .
In Kokrajhar, the heart of BTAD administration, Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma hoisted the national tricolour at the Govt HS & MP School parade ground in Kokrajhar.
Brahma inspected the guard of honour a march-past presented by jawans from Assam police on the occasion.
Brahma said that the state government was working for the all round development of the common masses. She said that the state government and health department have been taking stern steps to combat the COVID-19 outbreak and accordingly initiated strict preventive measures.
She urged upon all sections of the society to join hands unitedly while fighting the Coronavirus outbreak in the state.
Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora subdivisions also celebrated the Independence Day at their respective subdivisions amid maintaining of social distancing.
Minister Brahma condemned the attack on noted singer Jubin Garg recently in Guwahati and demanded punishment of the involved culprits.
“I condemn the attack on singer Jubin Garg ,who is regarded as the heart-throb of Assamese people in the state ”, Brahma said.
In Baksa, Assam Irrigation Minister Bhabesh Kalita attended the Independence Day celebration at Mushalpur.Kalita hoisted the national tri-colour flag amidst social distancing.He also inspected the guard of honour presented by the Assam police jawans.
In Udalguri,Assam minister for Public Health Engineering Rihan Daimary hoisted the national flag at Udalguri College parade ground being organised by Udalguri district administration.
Daimary highlighted the state government’s effort for welfare of the common citizens in the state.
In Chirang,Deputy Commissioner,Ratul Baruah hoisted the national tricolor at Kajalgaon parade ground on the occasion 74th Independence Day celebration.
