Guwahati (Assam), June 16 : A total of 191 new Covid cases were detected in the state on Monday while 206 patients were released from various hospitals across the state on Monday . The total number of cases as of now stands at 4309 .
The active cases after the release of the patients after testing negative twice stand at 2093.
Assam Health Minister tweeted at 11.50 pm ”📌Alert ~ 151 new #COVID19+ cases have been reported in Assam today.”

In order to combat Covid cases in the state , the state Health Department would launch Assam Targeted Surveillance Program from Wednesday where more than 50,000 random testings would be done in a week’s time, targeting vulnerable areas.
Under the programme, samples of people working in locations such as truck parking places, loading and unloading centres, godown areas, weigh bridges, dhabas etc. Staff of hotels used as instn quarantine will be tested. Frontline officials like Police will also be tested.
The programme will also cover the family members/co-residents of homes of persons who have been released from the institutional quarantine. The exercise is expected to completed by June 27 , and will involve the respective DCs who will ensure the availability of adequate facilities.
In order to facilitate people to get themselves tested, without having to visit hospitals, the health department has decided to open health facilities at various public places where swab collection for #Covid19 will be done Free of Cost.
