Shillong(Meghalaya), Oct 15 : The District Mental Health Programme, East Khasi Hills today observed the “World Mental Health Day” at a programme held at KJP Assembly Conference Hall, Shillong on the theme “Make Mental Health & Well-Being for All a Global Priority”.
Noor Khan Chairman cum District & Session Judge District Legal Services Authority graced the programme as the Chief Guest and Dr. Y.E Phira, Addl. DHS (Research) as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Khan lauded the District Mental Health Programme for mobilizing efforts in support of better mental health for all. He stated that the observation should also ensure that a mental health issue is highlighted in the public consciousness. Khan highlighted the role of laws and rights in relation with mental health and also pointed out the vital role that teachers play in monitoring the mental health of the students.
During the programme, resource persons spoke on topics including the Role of Psychiatrist & MIMHANS in Mental Health, Role of IPS, Meghalaya Branch in the field of Mental Health, Social causes/issues in relation with Mental Health, Role of Police regarding people with Mental Health and Mental Health Act, 2017.
