Tura ( Meghalaya), June 26: A video has gone viral in which a 37-year-old woman was publicly flogged by five men in Lower Teksagre under Damal Asim Police Station in Dadenggre, West Garo Hills on Tuesday, June 25 .
A video of a woman being beaten up publicly by five men with bamboo sticks, pulling her hair in East Garo Hills district has surfaced on social media.
The now viral video shows a group of men holding a woman as four men continuously hits her with a stick and pulls her hair.
A crowd is seen filming the assault instead of trying to help the victim.
As soon as the video went viral, senior police identified the people and the village in the video and arrested five persons. Two of the attackers were picked up from Lower Teksragre village on Wednesday afternoon, while three others who assaulted the woman in the video fled from their homes but finally arrested police today.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case at Tura Woman Police Station under relevant sections of the law and the victim has been sent for medical treatment in Tura.
