Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Sept 26: PM Narendra Modi addressed the Rozgar Mela and distributed about 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits via video conferencing today.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister congratulated those who received their appointment letters today. He remarked that they are here due to their hard work and dedication, and they have been selected from a pool of millions of candidates. Noting the festivities of Ganesh Utsav across the country, the Prime Minister said that it is the ‘Shri Ganesh’ of a new life for the appointees during this auspicious occasion. “Lord Ganesh is the God of accomplishments,” the Prime Minister said as he expressed confidence that the devotion of the recruits towards service will enable the country to accomplish its goals.
The PM said that the country is bearing witness to historic achievements. He mentioned the Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam which has empowered half of the population. “Women reservation issue which was stuck for 30 years, has passed by both the houses with record votes. This decision took place in the first session of the new Parliament, in a way, it is a new beginning for the nation in the new Parliament,” Prime Minister Modi emphasized.
Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla joined the Rozgar Mela in Shillong wherein he distributed appointment letters to the new recruits following the Prime Minister’s address.
In Shillong, appointment certificates were handed over to 293 candidates belonging to Department of Posts, Food Corporation of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Northeastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Defence.
Out of these 126 numbers of candidates have received appointment today in the Meghalaya region.
The Union Minister, while expressing his delight for the successful organisation of the Rozgar Mela, said “ It gives me immense pleasure to be here today and be part of Prime Minister Rozgar Mela event which is being held at 46 Centers all over the country.” Recalling the vision of the Prime Minister for providing government jobs to the youth on a time bound manner,i Barla said, “In June 2022, Our Hon’ble Prime Minister reviewed the status of Human Resources available in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people must done by the Government in mission mode in next one and half years”.
Highlighting that the Rozgar Mela is a significant addition to the various initiatives of the central government, Barla said that the Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfilment of the commitment of the Prime Minister to accord highest priority to employment generation along with providing meaningful opportunity to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development.
Speaking about the effectiveness of organising Rozgar Mela across the country simultaneously, the Minister said that the idea of giving appointment letters in one go has been started so that a collective temperament of completing projects in a time-bound way develops all across the government. The idea is that the recruitment process is to be seen as a project, which also needs to be completed in mission mode, he added.
The Minister said that the government is committed to making the process of recruitment easy and fair; and steps like abolition of self-attestation and abolishing interviews for Group- and Group-D level posts have helped the youth in getting government jobs. Today the Government Employee is a Karmayogi who is efficient and dedicated towards the goal of nation building and service to the citizens of the country; and all new appointees will get an opportunity to train themselves to become Karmayogis, he added.
Extending his heartiest congratulations to the newly recruits, the Minister said, “I would like to congratulate all the candidates who will be joining the Government Service today. You are joining today in the Amrit Kaal to help fulfil the resolve of a developed and self-reliant India. Youth are coming forward as today our government has made applying and getting a government job very easy.”
While talking to the media persons, Shri Barla said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister is committed to the ideals of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas” to build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The government has been working to ensure basic necessities to all citizens of the country through various programmes and schemes for the holistic welfare of the poor and marginalised sections of society. He also referred to the newly launched PM Vishwakarma scheme which will provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools. He however acknowledged that many people miss out of these schemes due to lack of proper information. He urged everyone to make the general public aware of the government schemes thereby bridging the information gap and facilitating the implementation of government schemes and policies.
One of the newly recruits Ms Audrey Liza Malngiang from Shillong, expressing her gratitude, said “ I feel blessed and honoured that I got the opportunity to be part of the Rozgar Mela and I would like to thank our Hon’ble Prime Minister for giving me the opportunity to work for Govt of India.” Ms Audrey received her appointment today in the Department of Post as Gramin Dak Sevaks – Assistant Branch Postmaster.
Another recruit from Tripura, Sh Abdul Alamin said that it is indeed a very happy moment for him for getting this opportunity to get the appointment letter through Rozgar Mela. He said, “My father, who is a farmer, is very happy and proud today that I have got a government job today and I am grateful to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for inviting us in this Rozgar Melt and providing us with an appointment letter on the spot.”
