Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 16: The 3rd Cabinet Retreat 2026, held at Orchid Resort, Mawkasiang, New Shillong, marked a significant milestone in Meghalaya’s journey towards inclusive development. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized the need for purposeful implementation of schemes, aligning with the government’s “Vision 2032”.
The retreat focused on 10 key commitments, including affordable healthcare, joyful learning, piped drinking water, and housing for all. With a strong presence of Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, and grassroots representatives, the event showcased success stories and progress updates.
Notable achievements include the development of 3,210 km of roads since 2018, reducing travel time, and progress on Jal Jeevan Mission exceeding the national average. The power sector is set to receive a boost with 31 new substations, while plans are underway to expand optical fibre and satellite-based internet connectivity.
The government has made significant strides in housing, with 1 lakh houses sanctioned under PMAY-G, and 80% completed. Efforts to strengthen primary healthcare and education are also underway, with a focus on establishing high-quality schools in every district headquarters.
The launch of initiatives like Chief Minister’s Headman Fellowship and Cluster Learning Lab handbook underscores the government’s commitment to people-centric development. As Meghalaya moves forward, the emphasis remains on data-driven, inclusive, and sustainable growth for every citizen.
