Shillong (Meghalaya), May 8: The state govt has issued a stern order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to regulate activities along the international border with Bangladesh.
Effective immediately, the order prohibits movement of people attempting to cross the border or sneak into Indian territory, unauthorized processions or assemblies of five or more persons carrying arms or potential weapons, and smuggling of goods, including cattle, contraband, betelnut, betel leaves, dry fish, and other items.
The order will be in effect for two months from its issuance on May 8, 2025, and aims to curb illegal activities and maintain order in the border region. This move underscores the government’s commitment to securing the border and ensuring public safety.
