Gangtok (Sikkim), Oct 6 : The Sikkim medical fraternity’s heroic battle in the Covid war has encountered another tragic loss of yet another warrior. The state deeply mourned the death of AB Biswakarma who was Sr MPHW at Rangpo PHC.
He had been on screening duty at the Rangpo Check Post since 29th January 2020. He valiantly rendered his high risk duty until the closure of screenings at the check post.
He passionately and courageously guarded the border against the lethal virus and finally gave his own life for the safety of your fellow Sikkimese people.
Mrs DK Lepcha also succumbed to her Covid-19 battle yesterday. Her husband Bhanu Lepcha (Beta) is also under quarantine.
This courageous, talented, selfless and hardworking lady deservedly wore many hats. She was one of the well-known artists in the state who was featured in many films, plays, music video and dramas. Her contributions in the fights against substances abuse, women tracking, domestic violence and her commitment towards the welfare of orphans and homeless as a pro-active social worker have left a distinct mark.
She was naturally helpful, empathetic and charmingly friendly to all. She was entrusted with the responsibility of the Convener of the SDFs party’s Culture Wing. She also served as Panchayat from Arithing Ward.
