Shillong, Aug 13: Glo:bal guitar wizard Marcin Patrzałek turned Lariti Performing Centre into a sonic playground on Wednesday night, but the real magic started before he even picked up his instrument.
The Art of Guitar Tour 2026, presented by Jameson Ginger Ale, opened with Meghalaya’s own. Under the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program, Leo Boys, Larger Than 90, Chegim Durama and LB King lit up the stage with Khasi, Jaintia and Garo sounds. From Riffoff winners to CM-MGMP’s Achiever of the Month, the lineup showed exactly how deep and wide the state’s music runs.
Then Marcin walked on at 8:30 pm and the room held its breath. Percussive taps, layered acoustics, electric surges, and mantra-like vocals poured out of one man and one guitar. It was hypnotic, grounding, and absolutely electrifying — the signature sound that made him a global name.
“Anything is possible. You can do it alone in a room, or in a shaded corner outside,” he told the crowd, urging Meghalaya’s young artistes to keep creating. He thanked Shillong for the love, calling the city a place that’s now close to his heart.
Beyond the performance, the night was about connection. Through CM-MGMP, local musicians got to meet, learn from and share the stage with an international artiste, while busking gigs across tourist spots continue to turn talent into livelihood.
Backed by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and the Department of Tourism, the evening proved once again why Shillong isn’t just listening to music. It’s living it.
