Shillong ( Meghalaya) , June 12 : Senior Journalist Sameer Sohliya died today at his residence at 5.30 pm.
Sameer was the Bureau Chief of the Sentinel newspaper and is survived by his wife, two daughters and mother .
He was earlier admitted to Nazareth Hospital in a critical condition and was on life support .
He was 48 .
Bobby as he was popularly know among his friends had also completed the Defence Correspondents Course .
His last rites will take place on Sunday , according to his family members .
“I was so saddened after I came to know that Sameer Sohliya is no more with us. The Media Fraternity has lost another stalwart, a bold and bright reporter, whose integrity and sincerity are two virtues attached to his personality. Sameer was one of those journalists who treated people in his story with respect and remained neutral in his reporting,” tweeted Information and Public Relations Minister, James Sangma.
