Shillong (Meghalaya), July 2 : Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong organized “Thung Dieng: For a Green & Sustainable Future” at Mairang to mark the beginning of new Rotary Year 2022-23 and planted 100 plum saplings on Friday

W Nongsiej, Deputy Commissioner, Mairang District, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with A. Nongbri, ADC, Mairang District and other officers.
Nongsiej thanked the club for this noble initiative and assured that the planted saplings will be taken care as it grows. He said that the Mairang District is rich in greenery and natural resources and we must work together to protect it.
Rtn (Prof.) Devesh Walia, who took charge as the President of the club on Friday , thanked the DC Office Mairang for their support in the green initiative. He informed everyone that ‘Imagine Rotary’ is the Rotary International’s theme this Rotary Year 2022-23 and added that it’s high time that we take action on our dreams, and pledge for a sustainable future for all.
Rtn Vivek Kumar, Vice- President of the club said that protecting environment is our collective responsibility and we must join our hands together for the green cause. He concluded his address with a message, “one earth, one person, one action, all to save our only planet that supports life”.
Rtn Bedarius Shylla thanked the DC Office Mairang for their support and said that the club would do more of such collaborative activities in future in the Mairang District.
