Nongpoh(Meghalaya), May 13: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong Nongsder & Nongsder Social Cultural & Sports Association, laid the foundation stone for a synthetic football turf in Nongsder, Ri Bhoi District.
The ceremony was graced by Shakliar Warjri, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, as the Chief Guest.
Damanbait Lamare, MLA of 12 – Umroi Constituency, attended as the Guest of Honour, along with D. P. Wahlang, IAS, Chief Secretary to Meghalaya . This project marks the second artificial football turf in Ri Bhoi in two years, further boosting sports infrastructure in the district.
During the event, the Sports Minister also felicitated Jeffery Kharmawlong, from Nongsder, who won 2 Bronze Medals for India in the XXIII Asian Arm-Wrestling Championship and XXII Asian Para Arm Wrestling Championship 2025.
