Imphal (Manipur ), Nov 13 : PM, Narendra Modi has condemned the attack on the Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur. He paid homage to those soldiers and family members who have been martyred today.
Col Viplav Tripathi (CO-46 AR), wife and his son died on the spot along with three other soilders and his driver. Other injured personnel were evacuated to Behiang Primary Health Centre.
The attack took place as the commanding officer went to supervise a civic action programme in the district.
The convoy of the Assam Rifles was ambushed by an unknown valley based group of terrorists.
The Prime Minister tweeted :
“Strongly condemn the attack on the Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur. I pay homage to those soldiers and family members who have been martyred today. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of sadness.”

Meanwhile ,Meanwhile, Manipur-based militant group People’s Liberation Army, or PLA, has claimed responsibility for the attack on the AR convoy.
A statement issued by the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the PLA, said the joint team was not aware of the presence of civilians in the convoy. The security forces should refrain from taking civilians along with them in areas declared as “disturbed” by the Government of India, said the outfit.
