Dimapur (Nagaland), Nov 19: In a new development and putting to rest all the speculations that has been going on for months, Akato Chophi, who earlier had hold the post of the NSCN (Reformation) “vice-president” succeeded Wangting Naga as the new president of the group.
Confirming the split, a source from the group on Friday informed this correspondent that the NSCN(Reformation) declared the split and announced to let “others” was that they are not following any personal leaders either Akato Chophi or Wangting Naga, but just following whom so ever leader who addresses its “constitution”.
The source from the NSCN (Reformation) said that the “direction” was taken for the “betterment” of the Nagas.
It also supplemented that Akato Chophi, who earlier was the vice-president of the group, was elected unanimously to the post after much speculations and reports being flashed in the media after “misunderstanding” cropping up within the group though it was amicably settled and resolved during that time.
The “misunderstanding” leading to “split” within was for sometime deferred following intervention by NNPGs convenor, N Kitovi Zhimomi.
